2007 Walk-A-Thon

Please take time to read all of the following information, whether you are new to MCS or you have been involved for years.  Walkathon 2007 is rapidly approaching!  The Walkathon is our major fund raiser at MCS bringing in $24,000 last year.  We ask that everyone get involved in some way, because the Walkathon is extremely important to the operation of MCS.  The current tuition does not come close to supporting the total operation of our school.

Funds raised through the Walkathon get used for a multitude of things, but here is a sampling of where proceeds have gone:

  • Upgrading curriculum
  • Achievement testing materials
  • Equipment purchases
  • Maintenance of building & equipment
  • Reading Reward Program
  • Science equipment and lab materials
  • Supplies-paper, tape, chalk, ink cartridges, markers, lamination, first aid, etc.
  • Academic awards
  • National Honor Society
  • Homecoming
  • Graduation and chapel expenses
  • Postage
  • Supplement Sports Program
  • Copier expenses

In addition to this, we are very excited to inform you that the bulk of the 2007 money will go toward a new gym floor.

Each year the Massillon Baptist Temple puts a large sum of money into the operation of the school, and we thank the church for its strong commitment to this ministry.

If it is at all possible, we need every family to participate in one of the two following ways:

  1. Perhaps you can help get sponsors for you children, so they can walk in the Walkathon on Saturday, September 29; or
     

  2. Maybe your children cannot walk in the Walkathon, so you would simply like to give a donation of any amount possible for you. 

In addition to one of the two areas just mentioned, perhaps you can help with the mountainous task of making the Walkathon work.  If you would be willing to help with getting Walkathon 2007 off the ground, please call Mrs. Rebecca Hartline at 330-833-1039, during the first few weeks of August.  Many hands make light work.  Come join us for Walkathon 2007!

***Please mark on your calendar to ask your children for Walkathon packets at the end of the first week of school.  The packet explains the Walkathon in detail and shows you how to get sponsors and earn rewards for your participation.  Also mark on your calendar the date of the Walkathon—Saturday, September 29, 9:00 a.m. at the Massillon Christian School.
